At St Benedict the Thaumaturge Charity – “A Helping Hand”, our vision is to inspire and empower young people through the life-changing experience of volunteering, compassion, and community support. We believe that every act of kindness, no matter how small, contributes to creating a safe, supportive, and transformative environment where vulnerable children and young adults can grow with dignity, confidence, and hope for the future.
Through the dedication of our volunteers, partners, and supporters, we are building a community where young people are encouraged to develop positively, discover their potential, and make meaningful contributions to society.
Currently, much of our work is focused in Cameroon, where we care for vulnerable children and young people who have been abandoned, rejected, or left without support. Many of these children have faced severe hardship, including rejection due to harmful local superstitions and false accusations of witchcraft. Others have struggled with homelessness, drug addiction, or extreme poverty, leaving them without guidance, protection, or opportunity.

Through the generous support of our faithful partners, including Saint Benoit Monastery in Cameroon, and compassionate individuals around the world, we continue to restore hope and create opportunities for disadvantaged children and young adults.
However, there is still much more to be done.
We seek continued support to help sponsor education, vocational training, and small business initiatives that will enable these young people to become self-reliant and confidently face adulthood with purpose and stability.
As we grow, our vision is to expand our outreach across England and Wales, building stronger communities of volunteers and supporters committed to transforming lives through service and compassion.
